Jess is a PhD student in the Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution Department at the University of California San Diego in Dr. David Holway’s lab. Her research explores how land-use and climate change interact to shape native bee communities in a biodiversity hotspot, with the goal of identifying factors that drive extinction risk and inform conservation. She is involved in two long-term, non-lethal bee monitoring projects at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and Cabrillo National Monument, and she also contributes to community science by identifying bee observations on iNaturalist.
