Kate Walker has worked in conservation jobs across the country with various land management agencies—after originally earning a degree in art (later in Conservation Biology). Her path eventually led her professionally into botany. While working with plants, Kate was introduced to the fascinating world of bees through the Bumble Bee Atlas while in the Pacific Northwest. After moving to Washington, she connected with the spearheaders of the Washington Native Bee Society, further expanding her interest in bees.
Now based in South Lake Tahoe, California, Kate is happily exploring and helping to track local bee diversity. She hopes to bring her enthusiasm into the community, inspiring others to care about—and take action for—the conservation of native bees.
