California Native Bee Society

Kristal Watrous is a bee biologist and research specialist at University of California Irvine. She became enthralled with the diversity and importance of native bees in Humboldt County, and has been excited about them ever since. Now based in Orange County, Kristal is trying to observe all of California’s bumble bee species (and holding out hope for Bombus franklini). When not nerding out about native bees, she is often seen botanizing, sewing, hiking, or contributing to iNaturalist.
