Rachel is a native San Diegan and spent most of her childhood curiously exploring the chaparral. After graduating from San Diego State University in 2019 with a B.S. in Biology with emphasis in Zoology, she discovered the world of museum research and realized you can get paid to curiously explore the chaparral. She is now a biologist in the Invertebrate Zoology Department at the San Diego Natural History Museum. Her research is tied to various projects she manages for the museum, ranging in focus from pollinators of coastal sage scrub habitat to leaf litter arachnids in high elevation mountains. Her passion and love for the natural world is evident in everything she does, whether it be photographing insects, creating floral embroidery, or sharing a weird bug fact.
