Tips and workflow for collecting wild bees for conservation
Sam Droege grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland, and has always been interested in Nature. He has worked at USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center since 1978 and now works to support research on native bees and stem some of the losses to wild things that come with population growth, wealth, and disconnection from Nature.
The unfortunate truth is that most bees are small and their identification largely accomplished by looking under the microscope. We will cover a huge, and inexpensive, array of tips, workflows, and procedures so that you can make a contribution to our understanding of native bee populations with emphasis on bees with specialized pollen needs and habitats. You can make a difference and your data can make a big contribution. Examples and demonstrations will be included.
