Bio: Dr. Muth is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior at UC Davis. She leads a lab with research that focuses on how animal behavior and cognition have a clear function in the natural world. She did her PhD in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh and the University of St Andrews, working on nest construction in birds. After her PhD, she switched to working on bumble bee cognition in postdoctoral positions at the University of Arizona and University of Nevada, Reno. The Muth Lab just moved from the University of Texas Austin to UC Davis last spring! In addition to all of her scientific articles, Dr. Muth is a strong proponent of science communication and she recently wrote a children’s book on bee diversity called Am I Even a Bee.
