California Native Bee Society

Dr. Nina Sokolov is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, who studies the viruses that infect bees. She is interested in understanding how crop pollination events affect diseases in both managed and native bees and how diseases play a role in insect conservation. Nina is also an artist who uses a range of mediums, including pen and ink, watercolor, zines, and digital illustration, to illustrate and express her admiration and reverence for the natural world. To teach the public more about native bees, she has created free California native bee coloring book pages that are available on her website https://ninasokolovart.weebly.com/coloring-pages.html.
